Dror Jerushalmi, CEO & Co-founder
As CEO and Co-founder of Valens, Dror Jerushalmi draws upon 20 years of high-level international business development and marketing management experience in the semiconductor industry to steer the company on a path of growth and success. Dror defines the company’s market penetration and business strategies, as it establishes its HDBaseT technology as the global standard for digital connectivity. Under his leadership, the company has completed rounds of financing, continues to introduce several families of products, and has reached significant milestones, including the award of a Technology & Engineering Emmy in 2016. Dror is currently overseeing HDBaseT’s successful introduction to the automotive market, to optimize in-vehicle connectivity.
Previously, Dror was Director of Business Development at Saifun Semiconductor (acquired by Spansion), a provider of intellectual property (IP) solutions for the non-volatile memory (NVM) market. Before that, he was Vice President of Marketing at Emblaze Semiconductor (acquired by Zoran Corporation), where he established the company’s reputation as an industry leader recognized by customers, press and analysts. He also held Business Development and Marketing management positions at Tioga and DSPG.
Dror holds a Bachelor's and a Master's (Cum Laude) degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Ben-Gurion University, Israel, and an MBA from Heriot-Watt University, Israel branch.
Massad Eyal, Vice President Research and Development and Co-founder
With 30 years of R&D management, VLSI engineering, and mixed signal design experience, Massad Eyal manages Valens’ R&D and engineering activities. Massad established the company’ R&D team and developed HDBaseT technology from concept to reality. Massad oversees the development and launch of the company’s families of products, and is now closely involved with the company’s penetration into the automotive market.
Before Valens, Massad was a co-founder of Mysticom Semiconductor, where he built the mixed signal design expertise of the company from the ground up. After Mysticom was acquired by TranSwitch, Massad managed the entire engineering activities of TranSwitch Israel. Prior to that, he held engineering management and design positions, developing mixed-signal modules at LSI Logic and at National Semiconductor.
Massad holds a Bachelor's degree (Cum Laude) in Electrical Engineering from the Technion –Israel Institute of Technology. He is a senior member of IEEE.
Eyran Lida, Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder
Eyran Lida is the lead inventor of HDBaseT technology, and as Valens’ Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer, he is responsible for technology and strategy development and for the company’s patent portfolio.
Eyran’s background includes 25 years of communication systems software and hardware architecture development experience, with primary expertise in wireline hardwired DSP modem design.
He holds 45 US patents and is the Chair of the HDBaseT Alliance Technical Committee. In this position, Eyran is responsible for the definition and development of new HDBaseT specifications.
Before Valens, Eyran was a co-founder of Mysticom Semiconductor, Israel, a leading supplier of high-speed communication integrated circuits. At Mysticom (acquired by TranSwitch), he held the position of Director of Architecture and System Solutions. He was also involved in the development of the 100BaseT, 1000BaseT and 10GBaseCX4 Ethernet Phy integrated circuits, including major contributions to the unique patented architectures of those solutions.Prior to that, he developed real-time software for IP and IPX routers at the Rad Bynat Group.
Eyran holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physics and Computer Science from the Hebrew University, Israel.
Micha Risling, Senior Vice President for Marketing & Business Development and Head of the Automotive Business Unit
As Senior Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at Valens, Micha Risling leads the company’s marketing and business development activities in several verticals, and heads the company’s automotive business unit. Micha brings 20 years of expertise in marketing and R&D executive roles in established NASDAQ and startup companies, plus vast experience in the global mobile and telecommunications industry. Over his tenure at Valens, Micha has established the company’s reputation as a leader in the digital connectivity space. Micha also holds the position of Head of the HDBaseT Alliance’s Marketing Committee, where he is responsible for the organization’s strategy and marketing activities.
Before Valens, Micha was Director of Marketing and Strategy at Saifun Semiconductor (acquired by Spansion), a leading provider of intellectual property (IP) solutions for the non-volatile memory (NVM) market. He led a group of internal and external teams to define and execute the company’s long-term strategy for business and marketing. Prior to that, he was Director of the Mobile Division Product Strategy and Director of Technical Customer Integration at M-Systems (acquired by SanDisk), a world leader in the flash memory market. He also held senior VLSI engineer positions at semiconductor companies OptiX Networks, Conexant and LSI Logic.
Micha received an Executive MBA from the Kellogg School of Business through Northwestern University in Chicago and the Recanati Business School at Tel Aviv University. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Tel Aviv University.
Dror Heldenberg, Chief Finance Officer
Dror Heldenberg joined Valens in 2015 as its Chief Financial Officer. Dror is responsible for the company's finance, accounting, and strategic financial planning. He brings more than 22 years of experience in operational and financial leadership, and a proven track record in debt and venture financing, as well as M&A activities at numerous hi-tech companies with international operations. Dror has successfully led the company through its latest round of financing.
Before Valens, Dror was the CFO at Compass Networks, a private data communication company, and at BroadLight, a provider of highly integrated network processors (acquired by Broadcom in 2012). Dror also held the CFO position at Pelican Security (acquired by Microsoft in 2002), and also served in various finance manager and controller positions. Early in his career, Dror was a Certified Public Accountant.
Dror holds an MBA and a B.Sc. in Accounting and Economics, Cum Laude, from the University of Tel Aviv.
Ariel Sobelman, Vice President of Corporate Alliances
With 20 years of strategic business development, industry standardization and planning experience, Ariel Sobelman serves as Valens’ Vice President of Corporate Alliances. Ariel leads the standardization process for HDBaseT technology, and holds the position of President at the HDBaseT Alliance, where he oversees the organization’s activities.
Before joining Valens, Ariel was with SanDisk, where he was the General Manager of the Corporate Liaison Office to Microsoft, managing the executive relations between the two companies. He served as Vice President in the CTO’s office at M-Systems (acquired by SanDisk), where he was responsible for all industry standards activities. Prior to SanDisk/M-Systems, he held responsibility for standardization of embedded cryptographic modules in mobile phones while part of the research group at Discretix Technologies. Before joining the corporate world, Sobelman was a Senior Research Associate at Jaffee Center for Strategic Studies at Tel-Aviv University.
Ariel is a longtime member of the IEEE and serves as a member of the IEEE Standards Association’s Corporate Advisory Group.
Nelly Elkavets, Vice President – Human Resources
Nelly Elkavets has led Valens’ Human Resources department for the past five years, overseeing the rapid growth of the company. Nelly brings over 15 years of experience as an HR Business Partner and Manager, from startups to global corporate companies. Nelly is responsible for defining and leading the company’s human resources growth targets, while identifying HR needs and developing HR processes. During her tenure, she has implemented a culture of organizational growth, while nurturing each employee’s talents and capabilities.
Over the years, Nelly performed both hands-on and strategic roles with providing human resources expertise in building effective executive teams, establishing the HR infrastructure, multinational recruiting, coaching and management development, compensation, conflict resolution, organizational development, training and process implementation, and handling employee relations issues.
Nelly holds an MA in Labor Studies from Tel Aviv University, and a BA in Psychology from Ben Gurion University. She is currently completing the Group Facilitation program at Tel Aviv University.
Shay Naeh, Vice President, Operations & Head of the Program Management Office
As Vice President for Operations, Shay is responsible for the company’s product manufacturing and engineering, processes and policies geared toward improving overall efficiency, and operational excellence. Shay also oversees Valens’ Quality efforts, guaranteeing top performance and adherence to the most stringent quality standards.
As Head of Valens’ Program Management Office, Shay is responsible for implementing the company’s vision and strategy throughout our AV and automotive product lines, from concept to market, including program execution, process management, metrics, trouble-shooting, prioritization and more.
Shay brings with him more than 18 years of experience in the semiconductor industry, complex end-to-end “system-on-chip” (SOC) execution, and development processes. Before Valens, Shay held several senior positions at Texas Instruments, a leading semiconductor company. Most recently, he was Platform Manager for one of the company’s leading offerings for the automotive market. Shay holds a B.Sc. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Tel Aviv University, and an Executive MBA from Recanati-Tel Aviv University.
Gabi Shriki, Senior Vice President, Head of Audio Video Business
Gabi manages Valens' Audio Video Business Line, responsible to grow the company’s position in its core markets and to develop new sectors.
He also leads the Application & Support Group, responsible for enhancing professional and technical customer support and supporting the company’s activities with customers. Gabi brings more than 15 years’ experience in the Wireless Mobile Connectivity Business, in senior positions with Texas Instruments. He has vast worldwide experience, and has been based over the years in Israel, Taiwan, France and Texas, USA. Gabi holds a B.Sc. Engineering Degree from Tel Aviv University, and an Executive MBA from Kellogg-Hong Kong University of Science & Technology.
Chee W. Kwan, Vice President, Worldwide Sales
Chee Kwan joined Valens in 2016 to lead the company’s sales efforts. He brings more than 30 years of experience in the semiconductor industry, in leadership sales, marketing and product positions. Prior to Valens, Chee was Vice President of Worldwide Sales for Altair Semiconductor (acquired by Sony Semiconductor), where he drove Altair to become a global presence in the single-mode LTE markets. Before then, Chee was the Vice President for Worldwide Marketing and Sales at BroadLight (acquired by BroadCom), where he re-energized worldwide sales and was responsible for the company’s strategic roadmap and market engagement planning.
Previously, Chee was CEO of Siimpel Corporation, up to the merger exit with Tessera, and before then, he was at Conexant Systems, where he had increasing responsibilities over the years. Earlier in his career, Chee held several senior engineering positions in leading enterprises.
Chee holds Engineering and Economics Degrees from Harvey Mudd and the Claremont Colleges.
